I’ve been lucky. Most of my work has been for decent employers — both public and private. But then I think about that a little longer and realize I found ways to rationalize what was unacceptable. I had learned subservience quite clearly.
But in these times and in so many before, I needed a union. I needed my colleagues, and they needed me. Together, we have power to protect ourselves and our communities from employer abuses that can ripple into society when workers are devalued, and we stand alone.
In this episode of Positively Progressive, we learn from a man of integrity, experience and a powerful sense of justice — Luis Ponce, SEIU105. For those who are just learning, SEIU is the Service Employees International Union, one of the most powerful labor organizations in the country. What joy to learn from this man, this friend, this amazing organizer who has all of our best interests at heart and in his core.
Enjoy. And welcome back to the new season of Positively Progressive.
